1). Get Rid Of The Clutter

Let’s face it, we’re all guilty of having too much junk around the house. A cluttered house can make you feel overwhelmed and can distract you from more important things on your to-do list! Now that a new year is here, start fresh with a clean slate. Get rid of any clothing, decorations, and other household items that you have not used within the last year. Either host a garage sale, list the items on Facebook marketplace, or donate them to a local thrift store. You’ll feel so much better once you get rid of all the stuff you don’t even like!

2). Do A Deep Clean

Now that you’ve done some decluttering, it’s time for a deep clean! Cleaning isn’t fun, but it’s just a necessary part of life! Start by doing a general pickup around the house. Next, dust furniture, shelves, windows, light fixtures, and fans. Wipe down all the surfaces and then start on the floors. After an initial sweep, you might notice that the floors look grimy or stained. If this is the case, you may need to mop the floors or even rent a carpet cleaning machine at your local hardware store.

3). Create Some Organization

An organized home can make your household more productive! Once you declutter, now’s the time to invest in some organizational tools. After all, once you’ve deep cleaned your home, you definitely want to keep it that way for as long as possible! In particular, focus on developing an organizational system for your pantry, refrigerator, cabinets, drawers, and spaces underneath sinks. You’ll thank yourself later!

4). A Fresh Coat Of Paint Can Do Wonders

If you’ve decluttered, cleaned, organized and the home still doesn’t look as tidy as you’d like, it’s probably time to invest in a fresh coat of paint! New paint can do wonders for any home! Pick a subtle color that will complement your existing furniture, cabinets, and countertops. If you have a large household, particularly lots of children, you definitely want to pick a semi-gloss paint! Semi-gloss paint is the easiest to clean.

5). Make Meals With What You Have On Hand

You likely have tons of canned goods in the pantry and lots of meat in the deep freeze. You might even have leftovers from the holidays. Don’t let this go to waste! Take inventory of the food you already have on hand before you head to the grocery store. Get creative and come up with new meals to use all the items you have on hand. By doing so, you won’t let food go to waste and you’ll likely save some cash!

6). Get The Office In Working Order

When people set new year’s resolutions, often work and income is on the top of their list! If this is the case, get your home office in working order. Specifically, your work environment should inspire you, make you focused, and avoid distractions. Now, more than ever, people are working remotely from home. It’s important that you have a separate workspace from the rest of your living space. This is especially true for those who are working at home with kids! If you can’t delegate one specific room as a home office, invest in some good headphones and a chair with back support!

7). Plan A Space For At-Home Workouts

Probably one of the most common new year’s resolutions is to workout more, be healthier, and even lose weight. If you’re not going to gym class, ditch the membership! There are so many online tools for working out at home. Many of them are even free! Create an area in your home that allows you to workout efficiently. You might have to move some furniture around, but you’ll be happy you prioritize your health in the long run!

8). Make Your Master Bedroom Relaxing

Your master bedroom should be a relaxing space for you to unwind! After a long day of work, you likely want to be in a calm and inviting atmosphere. Try to make your bed and do a quick cleanup around the master bedroom each morning. This way, you won’t have to worry about tidying up after work. Additionally, invest in making your master bathroom an oasis! A soft robe, nice towels, candles, and some bath salts can do wonders!

9). Create A Cozy Space To Do What You Love

There’s definitely something to be said about having good mental health! How often do you get to do something you truly enjoy for no other reason than to please yourself? If you love to read, create a reading nook. If you enjoy arts and crafts, take a corner of a room to make yourself a designated workspace. It’s important to take the time to do things that make you happy! As a result, you’ll be a better co-worker, partner, parent, and friend!

10). Delegate If You’re Feeling Overwhelmed

Are you feeling totally overwhelmed by the thought of decluttering, organizing, and cleaning your house? Tackling new year’s resolutions for your Kansas City home isn’t easy! Don’t be afraid to ask for some help! You don’t need to do this alone. If you live with others, make them pitch in! And, if it truly seems impossible, consider investing in professional cleaning and organizing companies.
