Before you build a Hearthside home, you’re likely going to need to get your existing property ready to list! In this blog post, you’ll learn about a few upgrades that can help you sell your Kansas City home fast. These home improvements are aspects today’s buyers will greatly appreciate!

Finishing Your Basement

Have you been thinking about finishing your basement? This is an investment you won’t regret as it will add more square footage to the home. When buyers see a higher square footage number, they’re willing to pay more. You’d be amazed at the return on investment some drywall, carpet, and paint can provide!

Modify The Layout

If you want to get top dollar for your listing and sell your Kansas City home fast, consider modifying the floor plan. Today’s buyers love an open-concept layout. Folks are also looking for practicality. If you have a formal dining space that could easily be transitioned into an office, add some doors for privacy!

Swapping Out Kitchen & Bathroom Fixtures

New hardware, light fixtures, and faucets may be necessary after years of wear and tear. These small changes can instantly make your home look newer. Choose a finish that compliments your cabinets best. Gold, silver, and black are all great choices. It’s also a good idea to swap out warm light bulbs for bright, neutral tones. These simple upgrades won’t break the bank and it will have a big impact on the look of your home!

Touching Up Paint

Touch up your interior and exterior paint! This simple task goes a long way. Fresh paint looks clean and updated. Neutral colors are the best option to appeal to a wide range of potential homebuyers!

Getting Energy-Efficient Appliances

If your appliances are outdated anyway, consider swapping them out for newer ones. Energy-efficient appliances are very desirable features of a home these days. Many homebuyers are looking for sustainable homes to grow old in! Big bonus if they are stainless steel!

Installing Hardwood Floors

Get rid of that nasty carpet and put in some hardwood floors! Hardwood floors can quickly make your home look larger, more modern, and cleaner. Hardwood flooring doesn’t have to be super expensive. There are several options that are affordable. Just be sure to choose a material that wears well and that compliments the rest of the home. It’s not a bad idea to hire an interior designer to make sure the flooring coordinates with the cabinets and other features of the home.

Repair Roof & Replace Old Systems

If you’re living in an older home, have the roof inspected and repaired if necessary. Do you have any signs of water damage on the ceilings? Get that fixed asap! Other upgrades that buyers appreciate include new cooling, heating, and water systems!

Having Low-Maintenance Landscaping

Add some curb appeal! There is no doubt having a properly landscaped yard will make potential buyers like the home more. Find plants that require less water and maintenance and that are native to your region. This will make caring for them easier! Boxwoods do really well in Missouri, are affordable, and look good year round!
