Without further ado, let’s jump into the reasons why you should finish the basement of your Kansas City new build!
Additional Living Space For Guests
If you finish the basement of your new home, you can add more bedrooms and living space in the basement. Whether your in-laws visit often or you like to host your friends, your guests will appreciate having their own space in the house. Anyone who stays with you will feel comfortable sleeping in a private, spacious environment that features a bedroom, bathroom, and a closet to unpack.
A Work From Home Office
With most jobs still being remote for the unforeseeable future, a home office would be the perfect addition to the basement of your new home. Transform the basement into a quiet workspace where you can get things done away from all of the chaos upstairs! This is especially beneficial for those with a full house. Your to-do list will thank you.
A Kitchen/Bar Area For Entertaining
If you love to entertain, a finished basement is a game changer! Adding a kitchen and bar area to your basement will make your home more fun and inviting. Those who visit will be blown away by the hospitality and the charming area for socializing.
An entertaining area in the basement can also be extended to the outdoors if you have a walk-out lot. Imagine mingling with your dearest friends on your patio, surrounded by string lights and good music! Your guests will never want to leave!
A Playroom For The Kids
If you have young ones, there is no doubt they would love for the basement to be turned into a playroom! When they get older, you can easily transform the room into a “hangout spot” for them and their friends. Line the basement with toys and playmats, or a pool table and a gaming area! Adding a finished basement to your Kansas City new build is a versatile option that can grow with your family.
A Movie Room For The Family
Who wouldn’t want a room dedicated to movie watching and munching on buttery popcorn? You could turn your basement into a movie room by getting some reclinable chairs, a large sectional, a flat-screen TV, or even a projector! Your whole family will love having movie nights in this cozy space.
A Home Gym
Are you a workout fanatic? Or do you struggle to fit the gym into your busy schedule? Whatever the case may be, you could turn your basement into an at-home gym! Depending on how much space you have, you could install a variety of equipment, mirrors, and even special flooring. If it’s a smaller space, you still could have a treadmill, free weights, and a yoga mat at the ready.
Extra Storage Space
Everyone needs extra storage space! Build cabinets and closets in the basement to store extra decorations and other things that may be cluttering the upstairs. Sure, you don’t need to have a finished basement just for the purpose of storage alone. Yet, if you want to have the added benefit of more living space you can talk to your builder about installing functional built-ins, cabinetry, and closets, to add extra storage to your home!
Outstanding Resale Value
Last but not least, the resale value of a finished basement is one of the main reasons that most people choose to finish it. Finishing your basement is a big investment, but you will make most of the money back when you sell the home. In the long run, it will be worth the initial cost because having a finished basement is something that attracts potential homebuyers!

Stage #3: Appliances: Then, you will meet with our appliance experts at Factory Direct to go over the final choices for your new kitchen. You will also pick out fixtures and lighting during this stage.
Stage #4: Pre-Drywall Orientation: Now it’s time to meet with the construction team. In this stage, you will take a look at the progress on framing, heating and cooling ducts, and plumbing/electrical rough-in work! You’ll get notifications from our online client portal regularly updating you with progress photos from the job site.
Stage #5: Build Check: Next, you will see your decisions from earlier in the process come to life! More details will be added to your home, and you can check in on the progress.
Stage #6: Punch Period: This is the inspection stage! From the mechanical components to the finishing touches, our construction team will inspect all elements and correct any issues that there may be before the closing day!
Stage #7: Home Orientation: Finally, you will walk through the house with our team to go over the functionality of your appliances, water lines, circuit breaker, etc. Sometimes a second set of eyes can catch small imperfections that will need to corrected prior to closing day, so this is the perfect opportunity for us to finalize our remaining to-do list.
Stage #8: Closing Day: We did it! You will stop at the home and make sure everything’s completed, and pick up the closing papers and keys. You are now officially a homeowner!
Stage #9: Warranty Check: Our work doesn’t stop on closing day. After you move in, we are available to you if any issues should arise with our warranty. We offer a 1-year warranty to our clients so you can be confident in your buying decision!
