Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s run through the difference between a ranch and a reverse-style home. A ranch-style home has all of the bedrooms, kitchen, and living space on one level. A reverse is like a ranch in disguise! Imagine your typical 1.5 style floor plan but, in a reverse-style floor plan, the additional bedrooms are in the basement instead of the 2nd story.
With this information in mind, you might be wondering which floor plan style is best for you. Both are great options, but ultimately you’ll need to choose what layout is right for your family! Ranch Style Floor Plan
A ranch-style floor plan has all of its bedrooms and bathrooms on the main floor with an unfinished basement. These floor plans typically have an open concept. Ranches are great for those with young children and the elderly as they are very easily accessible. You won’t have to worry about stairs! Reverse Style Floor Plan
In a reverse-style floor plan, the master bedroom and living area are on the main floor, but the other bedrooms are in the finished basement. The bedrooms in the basement will have great privacy as they are distanced away from the rest of the common living spaces. Not to mention, the temperature of the basement bedrooms will likely be much cooler than in other floor plan styles. Do you have young adults or teens living with you?
